Danny Frawley Bio
Games played for St Kilda: 240 Goals kicked: 13
Recruited from Ballarat, where he was a potato farmer, Danny Frawley made his debut for the St Kilda Football Club in 1984, at the age of 20.
Initially playing as a forward, Danny Frawley soon made his name as a renowned fullback playing 240 games from 1984 to 1995, including 9 years as captain. Frawley was chosen as a Victorian state representative in 1987, representing Victoria 11 times and in the following year, in the All-Australian team.
He won St Kilda's best and fairest in 1988, leading the club into the finals for the first time in 18 years in 1991. He was St Kilda's longest serving captain and was regarded as one of the game's finest leaders.
After a prodigious playing career, Danny Frawley took up the coaching reigns at the Richmond Football Club in 2000 and, with almost immediate success, took the Tiger to the finals in 2001, their first finals appearance since 1995. However, his tenure at the club finished in 2003 and Danny Frawley has since left coaching where he has established himself as a "footy expert" with special comments for Triple M, Fox Sports and The Channel 9 Sunday Footy Show.
"Just a quick note to thank you for a brilliantly run competition last year. It was effortless. I liked the fact that all our participants got a personalised email from me..."
